CDTA is upgrading its first BusPlus project, the Red Line, which launched in 2011. The first phase covers the BusPlus stations in Schenectady from Veeder/Nott to Niskayuna and will improve the station areas and adjacent intersections for transit riders, pedestrians, and other travelers throughout the corridor.

CDTA’s Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Priority Corridor Feasibility Study builds off the success of its existing system and long-term planning at the agency. The study will determine which corridors in the region would provide the most benefit to passengers via changes to the roadway design, service levels, or other transit focused improvements. The study includes data review, corridor identification, and conceptual design, to prepare the agency to pursue funding opportunities to improve access to high-quality transit in the Capital Region.

CDTA, CDTC, and local municipalities are working to establish mobility hubs in the Capital Region. These are locations where different travel options provided by CDTA and our partners can be interconnected to offer a seamless transfer from one type of transportation to another — e.g., local routes, bus rapid transit (BusPlus), intercity service (Greyhound/Trailways), bikeshare (CYCLE), carshare (DRIVE), and/or microtransit (FLEX). We are partnering with NYSERDA, CALSTART, and the Tri-State Transportation Campaign to identify the locations of these hubs in the region.

The Capital Region Bus Lane Feasibility Study is a joint effort between Capital District Transportation Committee and CDTA to investigate the feasibility, needed infrastructure improvements, and potential operating policies for bus lanes and other priority transit treatments within the CDTA service area.
