Transit and Pedestrian Improvements at Brevator Street and Belvidere Avenue
As part of our new Purple Line project, CDTA is making improvements in the vicinity of Brevator Street and Belvidere Avenue that will support multi-modal travel into the Harriman State Campus.
Project Highlights Include:
- A new traffic signal at the intersection of Brevator Street and Belvidere Avenue with pedestrian ramps, crosswalks, and pedestrian signals
- New bus only lanes on Brevator Street and on the Campus Access Road bridge over Route 85
- New multi-use path across the Campus Access Road bridge
The bus only lanes will reduce travel times and the pedestrian improvements will make walking and biking in the area safer and more accessible.
The project will result in changes to the current traffic patterns, including realigning the exit ramp from Route 85 and redirecting traffic to a new access point to Brevator Street that is further north along the Campus Ring Road (near the firehouse). The new traffic pattern is expected to start on or around Monday, July 25.
CDTA is partnering with the City of Albany, the New York State Department of Transportation, and the New York State Office of General Services on the design for the roadway improvements. Signs will be posted during construction to notify drivers about the changes to traffic patterns.
