Project Overview
The Purple Line is CDTA's newest bus rapid transit (BRT) line that runs along Washington and Western Avenues in the City of Albany, and there are many exciting things happening as a result of the line's rollout. The Purple Line connects Downtown Albany with a variety of locations within the city, including the Crossgates Mall and the University of Albany's Uptown and Downtown campuses. Additionally, the Purple Line connects to the Red and Blue Lines, thus allowing riders fast, accessible, and affordable access to many major destinations within the Capital Region.
Brevator & Belvidere Busway and Roadway Improvements
BREVATOR ST. & BELVIDERE AVE, ALBANY, NY
CDTA will be constructing new dedicated bus lanes to access the Harriman Campus along with a new traffic signal at Brevator, pedestrian improvements, and a new multi-use path along the bridge over NY-85.
New BRT Stations at Allen St,Partridge St, and Quail St
INTERSECTIONS ALONG WESTERN AVE, ALBANY, NY
CDTA will be constructing new BRT Stations at Allen Street, Partridge Street, and Quail Street. These stations will be complete with new amenities including station heaters, benches, and LED lights that use solar power.
UAlbany Busway
UNIVERSITY OF ALBANY UPTOWN CAMPUS, ALBANY, NY
The UAlbany busway is a dedicated busway for the Purple Line through the UAlbany Uptown campus. Upgrades include a new BRT station, traffic signal upgrades, and pedestrian improvements to the campus and surrounding area.
Albany Bus Garage
110 WATERVLIET AVE, ALBANY, NY
CDTA constructed a new bus garage in preparation for the rollout of the Purple Line. The garage features upgraded facilities included a new bus wash and hydraulic lifts for articulated buses.
Crossgates Mall Roundabout & Improvements
CROSSGATES MALL, GUILDERLAND, NY
CDTA will be constructing a new roundabout for access to the I-87 Northway along with traffic signal upgrades on the Crossgates Mall Road. Additional upgrades include repaving and restriping the roadways.
