Red Line Refresh - Station Improvements
The BusPlus Red Line stations were installed over 10 years ago and it is time for an update. The Red Line Refresh invests in upgrades to existing Red Line stations that will improve the customer experience for existing riders and attract attention from potential customers not yet familiar with BusPlus.
Stations along the BusPlus line will be refreshed to match the amenities seen on the Blue Line and for the future Purple Line. New LED lights will be installed to enhance visibility, which improves safety and makes the station easier to locate. Heaters and USB chargers will be installed to modernize each customer’s waiting experience. The lights, USB chargers, and heaters will be powered by new solar panels installed on the top of each station. Using this clean energy source reflects CDTA's commitment to regional sustainability.
The project also includes upgrades outside of the stations on their footprint. Each station will get new pylons with the BusPlus brand that make them more visible and provide a place to store electrical equipment needed to support the heated sidewalks - or snow melt pads. Most of these amenities are also being installed as part of the construction of the Purple Line stations.
