Launch of New BusPlus Purple Line

Launch of New BusPlus Purple Line

It’s an exciting time as all the capital projects CDTA has been overseeing for the past few years are ready to be put to use! The new BusPlus Purple Line arrives November 5th! This is CDTA's third bus rapid transit line in the Capital Region, and will run along the Washington and Western Avenue corridors. The addition of the Purple Line completes the system vision of providing more than 40 miles of BRT service on the region’s busiest roadways.

Some transformative projects included building a new garage at CDTA headquarters for additional buses, replacing an inefficient intersection at Crossgates Mall with a new roundabout, and the constructing the region’s first busway through the UAlbany campus which includes a dedicated lane for buses, a new multi-use path, and extensive landscaping. In addition, CDTA has made significant enhancements to pedestrian infrastructure, roadway improvements, and transit features which make buses faster and the travel experience more comfortable.

Check out the Region's latest BRT line at no cost! For the first two weeks of operation - from Sunday, November 5th through Sunday November 19th, the Purple Line will run fare free! You can find out more service details online at www.cdta.org/brt!
